91.懷孕了嗎？
Driving the car to the doctor, Marcy couldn't get a word in edgeways!
開車去找醫生的時候，瑪西根本插不上嘴！
Her mother just kept talking and talking about how Marcy would get a bad name if she were really pregnant!
她母親一直說個不停，說如果真要懷孕了，她會如何聲名狼籍！
But her mother did not need to get across the seriousness of the situation to Marcy; she just wanted to get it over with.
其實母親沒有必要把情況的嚴重性說得那么清楚，瑪西還想把這事給擺平了呢。
After getting a checkup she would know one way or the other.
體檢之后她就知道到底該怎么辦了。
She had never meant to get pregnant!
她從來沒有想過要懷孕！
Nor had she meant to get a ride with her mom to the doctor.
她也沒有想過要和母親一起坐車去看醫生。
But there was no getting around it; she needed to get a lift from someone.
這也是沒辦法，她需要搭一個人的車。
And so she had told her mom about possibly being pregnant.
因此她就告訴母親她可能懷孕了。
It had been hard. They had always gotten along with each other so well.
這事很難啟齒。她們平時一直相處得很好。
Her mom was shocked to hear that Marcy was actually behaving like a woman even while she was in High School.
聽到瑪西在高中時就已經與人同居了，母親大吃一驚。
It was awful! Marcy agreed!
這太可怕了！瑪西也有同感！
But at least she was trying to get it right now by telling her mom.
但至少她現在想改邪歸正，因為她對母親說了實話。
Marcy was actually surprised that she had gotten along without her mother knowing for so long.
瑪西實際上也覺得奇怪，她居然瞞了母親這么久。
It had been almost a month.
都快一個月了。
At least now she could gel along trying to prepare for the possibility that she was pregnant!
至少她可以進行一些準備，接受懷孕的可能性！
The girls at school who didn't like her would get a lot out of harassing her if she was.
一旦她懷孕，學校那些不喜歡她的女孩就會從她的不幸中獲得快樂。
Marcy had gotten above herself too many times in their eyes; this would be proof that she was messed up, too!
在她們眼里，瑪西太自命不凡了，她懷孕正好說明她也有倒霉的一天！
As it turned out, Marcy got ahead of herself with all the anxiety as well! She wasn't pregnant!
事實證明瑪西是吉人天相、虛驚一場！她根本沒有懷孕！
Boy was she relieved!
天哪，她終于松了口氣！
