79.Always Waiting, Hoping...
79.總是等待，希望...
Lorraine practically fell off her chair when she saw that everything was gone, and that he was gone!
看到東西都沒了，洛蘭幾乎要發火了！而且他也不見了！
She was so sure that she could fall in love with the stranger!
她還那么肯定她會愛上那個陌生人呢！
But he had fallen short of her expectations!
他卻辜負了她的期望！
Lorraine was familiar with that.
洛蘭對這種事情并不陌生。
She always seemed to fall in with the wrong type of men. Ever since she could remember!
她似乎總是遇上不該遇到的男人。自從她有記憶以來一直就是這樣！
And all of the warnings of her mother and friends would fall on her deaf ears each time she saw a good looking man. They tried to warn her.
每次見到一個英俊男人，她都會把母親和朋友的警告當耳邊風。他們是警告過她的。
But she couldn't help it; she just fell over herself whenever one was around.
可她就是控制不住自己。只要身邊有這樣的男人出現，她就會手足無措。
And so she had fallen into disrepute with her friends and fallen out with her mother.
結果她在朋友面前名譽掃地，與母親也感情不和。
It almost seemed to fall to Lorraine's lot to always have failed relationships.
洛蘭似乎命定總是和這些人搞不好關系。
Someday it would all fall into place. Lorraine told herself.
總有一天情況會變得清楚。洛蘭對自己說。
Some man would come along and he would be Mr. Right!
一定會有個男人到來，而且正好是個該愛的人！
And rather than Lorraine falling off the edge, he would fall on her!
不是洛蘭墮入情網，而是他愛上她！
Then her friends and mother would see that she was right, that there was hope,
這樣她的朋友和母親就會明白她是對的，希望是有的，
that there was a good man left on this planet, and that Lorraine would some day have the perfect man!
地球上還留下了一個好人，而洛蘭總有一天會找到那個十全十美的男人！
But obviously not today again!
可是今天這位明顯又不是。
And so Lorraine fell into her usual routine.
就這樣洛蘭又開始了她的正常生活。
She cleaned up the apartment. Called the police to report yet another theft and went to work.
她把公寓打掃干凈，打電話給察局報告了另外一宗盜竊案，然后就上班去了。
She wouldn't even bother telling her fhends about this episode.
她甚至都懶得費心跟朋友們講這事兒。
At least her connection to the police would never fall into disuse!
至少她與警察局的聯系永遠都不會停止！
