78.Crooks Everywhere

When the stranger fell down just inside the door of the bar, everyone rushed to help him.
Lorraine fell all over herself to help the man, but more so because he was so good looking.
But everyone else was sure he had somehow fallen foul of the law.
When he finally woke up, they fell back on their usual positions to listen to what had happened.
But it was nothing unique. He had tried to buy some drugs in the back alley.
The deal had fallen apart when the stranger said that the drugs fell between two stools, being neither narcotics nor amphetamines.
But he had not seen the wood for the trees and that was why he was then beat up for accusing the drug dealers of trying to cheat him.
They had been, that was for sure, but life was no fairy tale and deals didn't always have happy endings.
People who play fair and square most often end up screwed! Fair play was the exception.
But Lorraine was happy. She got to take the stranger home where he again fell flat on her bed to fall instantly asleep.
Lorraine was faithful to his dignity, however, and left his clothes on.
But she failed to take any precautions herself.
When she woke up the next morning, wiping her face and moaning, she was sure that she was falling behind schedule because of the time.
Then she looked up to notice that the stranger was gone, as was her TV and computer!
Even the good looking ones are sometimes crooks!
