82.填空補(bǔ)缺
On his way home from the film lab, Chuck started to feel bad; he had to fight off throwing up in the car!
從照相館回家的時候，查克開始難受起來，他得竭力擺脫在車上想吐的感覺！
When he called the doctor later, they figured out that he had eaten something bad.
等到他后來把醫(yī)生叫來，他們發(fā)現(xiàn)他是吃壞了東西。
The doctor said he would fill out a prescription for Chuck.
醫(yī)生說他會為查克開一副藥。
Then Chuck called the pharmacy and they filled the prescription.
之后查克打電話到藥店，他們?yōu)樗_了藥。
They even delivered it to his home. Chuck crashed in bed.
他們甚至把藥送到了他家里。査克病倒了。
Before he nodded off, however, he realized that he should call his assistant Jane, and fill her in on the situation.
但是在睡覺之前，他意識到他得把助手簡叫來把詳細(xì)情況告訴給她。
Chuck would surely not be able to go on the field trip tomorrow.
查克肯定不能參加明天的校外考察旅行了。
She would have to fill in for him and lead the tour.
她得臨時補(bǔ)他的缺，帶這個考察團(tuán)。
Jane wasn't too happy about it.
簡有些不樂意。
She said that no one could fill Chuck's shoes.
她說誰也接替不了査克的位置。
She would rather just fill in the students on his sickness and cancel the trip.
她倒是想把他生病的情況告訴學(xué)生，并取消這次旅行。
Chuck said no. Jane could fill his place.
查克不同意，說簡可以接替他的工作。
She just had to be confident, take the students around the park and talk about what she knew.
她只要充滿自信，帶學(xué)生到公園轉(zhuǎn)轉(zhuǎn)，講一些她知道的東西就行了。
And if she were confident, no one would ever think she couldn't fill the bill.
如果她有自信，沒有人會認(rèn)為她不符合要求。
"And don't forget to fill up the bus with gas." Chuck said with a weak laugh.
"別忘了給汽車加滿油。"杰克無力地笑著說。
Last time he had forgotten and they had got stuck in the wilderness. Jane relented.
上次他就忘了加油，結(jié)果被困在了荒無人煙的地方。簡的心軟了。
She never figured on having so much fun leading a field trip.
她從來沒有指望帶校外考察團(tuán)是那么有意思。
But Chuck was right. She could fill his position.
但查克說得對，她能接替他的位置。
But she didn't want to take it away.
可她不想接管這個工作。
Guiding a field trip was one thing, teaching a whole class was another.
帶校外考察團(tuán)是一回事，給整個班上課又是另外一回事。
She would fill in for little things, but not for the big ones.
她可以在小事上填填空，在大事上卻不行。
Chuck was better the day after the field trip and proud of Jane that she had done such a great job!
校外考察旅行結(jié)束之后查克好多了，他為簡的出色表現(xiàn)感到驕傲！
