中國古人說過：“熟讀唐詩三百首，不會寫詩也會吟。”這話的其中含義有“熟能生巧”的意思。求學問的“真途”就是要做到“熟”。熟了之后你才有可能觸類旁通，問一答三。最終才可進入“無為”而“無不為”的境界。現在不少中學生對英語學習感到頭痛。學不好的原因是多方面的，但不肯下功夫達到“熟”的程度是最根本的原因之一。“走馬觀花”地學習，必然導致認知上的浮光掠影般的結果。什么東西好象都懂，考起來什么內容都是一知半解。作為一位過來人，我真希望同學們能夠充滿樂趣地學英語。不再把學英語看作是一件苦差事。試試如下作法。

有意識地去收集一些佳句。最好附有英語譯文，選擇的分類可根據自己的愛好，有從語義上的新奇著手，也可就不太熟的語法現象上加以收藏。最佳的是收集一些名言警句。每天多讀幾遍，直到脫口出。這樣，你不僅在思想上有所升華，英語的水平（應用能力）也在迅速地提高。何樂而不為呢？以下是筆者收集過的一些句子，也包括一些自己的原創，供同學們試用。

１、賓至如歸。 When the visitor arrives, it is as if returning home.

２、事實勝于雄辯。 Facts speak louder than words.

３、新官上任三把火。 A new broom sweeps clean.

４、青出于藍而勝于藍。The pupil outdoes the master.

５、佛要金裝，人要衣裝。Fine feathers make fine birds.

６、大智若愚。He knows most who speaks least.

７、自食其果。As you make the bed, so you must lie in it.

８、各人自掃門前雪，莫管他人瓦上霜。 Save your breath to cool your porridge.

９、留得青山在，不怕沒柴燒。The shepherd would rather lose the wool than the sheep.

１０、 聞啼知鳥，聞言知人。A bird is known by its note and a man by his talk.

１１、   二人同心，其利斷金。If two people are of the same mind, their sharpness can cut through metal.

１２、   海內存知己，天涯若比鄰。A bosom friend afar brings distance near.

１３、   路漫漫其修遠兮，吾將上下而求索。The way ahead is long; I see no ending, yet high and low I’ll search with my will unbending.

１４、   江山如此多嬌，引無數英雄競折腰。This land so rich in beauty has made countless heroes bow in homage.

１５、   君子成人之美，不成人之惡。The gentleman helps others to achieve their moral perfection but not their evil conduct.

１６、   順天者存，逆天者亡。Those who follow the Heaven’s law will survive; those who go against it will perish.

１７、   天生我材必有用。Heaven has endowed me with talents for eventual use.

１８、   善學者盡其理，善行者究其難。Those who are good at learning exhaust the principles. Those who are good at practicing seek to solve the most difficult problems.

１９、   逝者如斯夫！不舍晝夜。The passage of time is just like the flow of water, which goes on day and night.
