A recent hashtag on Chinese social media—"Woman repays 600,000 yuan debt to care for deceased ex-boyfriend's family"—has gone viral, drawing widespread attention.
近日，一條“女生替去世前男友照顧家人還債60萬”的微博熱搜，引發關注。
According to Hengyang Daily, Wang Ting, a woman from Hengyang, Hunan province, lost her longtime boyfriend, Zeng Zhi, in a tragic car accident on June 19, 2016. The accident not only took Zeng’s life but also left behind debts totaling 600,000 yuan, primarily from unpaid wages, supplier bills, and personal loans.
據掌上衡陽消息，2016年6月19日，湖南衡陽女孩王婷相戀多年的男友曾志遭遇車禍，被奪走生命，并留下高達60萬元的債務。欠債來源主要是人員工資、進貨欠款和朋友借款。
In an interview with Rednet News, Wang explained that she felt compelled to honor the trust placed in Zeng by creditors, many of whom were families relying on the owed funds. "Even though Zeng is gone, I couldn’t let him leave this world labeled as untrustworthy. I had to clear his name," she said. To settle the debts, Wang exhausted her savings and even borrowed an additional 60,000 yuan from friends.
另據紅網報道，王婷知道，這些債務的背后，是一個個家庭的期待與信任。她決定：“曾志雖然走了，但我不能讓他背負著失信的罵名離開，我要替他把這些債還清。”最終，王婷花光了自己的積蓄，還向朋友借了6萬多元，還清了債務。
The story, however, has sparked polarized reactions online. While some netizens praised Wang’s integrity, others criticized her decision and questioning her as a "paragon of blind romance".
然而，這個故事在網上引發了兩極分化的反應。雖然一些網友稱贊王婷的正直，但也有人批評她的決定，并質疑她是”戀愛腦典范”。
Conversely, supporters defended her choice, emphasizing respect for personal values. "Everyone has different priorities—there’s no need to mock her kindness," one user wrote.
相反，支持者為她的選擇辯護，強調尊重個人價值觀。一位用戶寫道：“每個人都有不同的優先事項，沒必要嘲笑她的善良。”
When contacted by Jiupai News on Monday, a staff member from the Hengyang County Women’s Federation stated they were unaware of Wang’s actions, noting she had never sought assistance. The representative added that Wang, despite coming from a disadvantaged background, is known for her resilience and generosity. "Last month, she donated 10,000 yuan to support a student’s education," they revealed.
據九派新聞消息，4月14日，衡陽縣婦聯一名工作人員表示，不清楚她幫前男友還債的事情，她之前也沒有主動提過。針對網上的輿論爭議，她表示：“覺得是正能量的就可以去做，隨便別人怎么說。”該工作人員還稱，王婷原生家庭不是很好，但她能吃苦，很善良，熱衷公益事業，“上個月還資助了一個學生一萬塊錢”。
