Major Cold, the 24th solar term, marks the prelude to Chinese New Year. Piercing winds sweep across the land which is draped in a carpet of pristine white snow. Life takes on a dormant aspect, as it awaits with bated breath spring's arrival.
大寒，是二十四節氣的終章，也是新歲的前奏。此時，天地間寒意凜然，大地銀裝素裹，萬物蟄伏，靜待春的蘇醒。
After Major Cold, Spring Festival is just around the corner. Families start to prepare for the upcoming event, cleaning their homes, curing meat and shopping for gifts. It is a time to bid farewell to the old and welcome the new, and pray for peace and prosperity in the coming year.
“大寒過了就是年”。家家戶戶開始忙碌起來，進行掃塵、腌制臘味和準備年貨等活動，以辭舊迎新，祈求來年的平安與順遂，為即將到來的春節做足準備。
In southern regions, the tradition of weiya ji or the year-end dinner sees businessmen hosting banquets to count the past year's blessings, inviting employees to celebrate together.
在南方地區，有尾牙祭的習俗，商家祭拜土地公，感謝一年的庇佑，宴請員工，共慶豐收。
During Major Cold, which overlaps with the Spring Festival travel rush, train stations are brimming with people. Laden with heavy luggage and large bundles of Chinese New Year goodies, their faces beam with the joy of heading home.
大寒期間，春運期間的火車站人頭攢動，熱鬧非凡。旅客們拖著沉重的行李箱，帶著大包小包的年貨，臉上洋溢著歸心似箭的喜悅。
Outside the window, the winter scenery blurs in the frosty wind, but the heart glows with the anticipation of a warm hearth, a hearty Chinese New Year's Eve meal, and the smiling faces of loved ones.
窗外，飛馳而過的風景在寒風中模糊，但每個人的心中都有一幅清晰的畫面——是溫暖的家，是豐盛的年夜飯，是親人的笑臉。
Ancient Chinese believed that during Major Cold, hens start to incubate their chicks, meat-eating birds such as falcons and kestrels become more ferocious and hunt for food for enough energy reserves to survive the bitter cold.
古人將大寒分為三候：“一候雞乳；二候征鳥厲疾；三候水澤腹堅”。意思是大寒期間，母雞開始孵育小雞；鷹隼等肉食鳥類，變得更加兇猛，尋捕食物以補充能量抵御嚴寒；

Major Cold marks the end of one cycle of the four seasons and the beginning of another, intertwining cold with warmth, departure with hope. As the poem goes, "If winter comes, can spring be far behind?" Let us, with a longing for a better life, quietly await the arrival of spring.
大寒是一個四季輪回的結束，也是另一個四季輪回的開始，將寒冷與溫暖、離別與希望交織在一起。“冬天來了，春天還會遠嗎？”讓我們帶著對美好生活的向往，靜待春歸的美好時節。
