The New York authorities have arrested Sebastian Zapeta, the man suspected of lighting a sleeping woman on fire aboard a Coney Island F train, killing her in a horrific attack early Sunday morning.

Witnesses and surveillance footage reportedly show the suspect tossing a lit match onto the sleeping victim before watching her burn to death. A viral video surfaced on social media showing the shocking incident, with Zapeta sitting calmly and observing the aftermath of his actions.

A manhunt was on for Zapeta on Sunday afternoon which concluded with his arrest. According to the New York Police Department, Zapeta was travelling on a train at 34th Street in Manhattan when he was identified by a passenger, who then tipped off the police.

Fox News said Zapeta entered the US from Guatemala approximately a year ago, but whether he did so legally or illegally was unclear. NYPD officials said the man entered from Guatemala in 2018, and said "that's all we have on him right now."
