English-speaking people nearly always talk about the weather when they meet.

They talk about the weather to start up a conversation.

When one person says, for example, "It's a fine day, isn't it?"

the other should usually agree by saying "Yes, isn't it?" or "It certainly is."

Once when I met with a guest from England, he said, "It's cloudy today."
