Lockhart's hands were pressed over his eyes. Harry turned back to look at the thing, his heart beating so fast it hurt.
洛哈特用手緊緊按住自己的眼睛。哈利又轉(zhuǎn)過頭去看著那龐然大物，他的心跳得飛快，感到胸膛里隱隱作痛。
Very slowly, his eyes as narrow as he could make them and still see, Harry edged forward, his wand held high.
哈利盡可能地把眼睛瞇得很小很小，同時又能看見東西。他側(cè)著身子慢慢向前移動，手里高高地舉著魔杖。
The light slid over a gigantic snake skin, of a vivid, poisonous green, lying curled and empty across the tunnel floor. The creature that had shed it must have been twenty feet long at least.
光線照射在一副巨大的蛇皮上，綠盈盈的，十分鮮艷，一看就是一條毒蛇的皮，盤繞著躺在隧道的地面上，里面是空的。顯然，那個剛褪下這層皮的動物至少有二十英尺長。
Blimey, said Ron weakly.
“天哪。”羅恩無力地嘆了一聲。
There was a sudden movement behind them. Gilderoy Lockhart's knees had given way.
他們身后突然傳來一個動靜。是吉德羅·洛哈特膝蓋一軟，癱倒了。
Get up, said Ron sharply, pointing his wand at Lockhart.
“起來。”羅恩嚴厲地說，用魔杖指著洛哈特。
Lockhart got to his feet — then he dived at Ron, knocking him to the ground.
洛哈特站了起來——他撲向羅恩，把他撞翻在地。
Harry jumped forward, but too late — Lockhart was straightening up, panting, Ron's wand in his hand and a gleaming smile back on his face.
哈利沖上前去，可是已經(jīng)來不及了。洛哈特氣喘吁吁地站起身來，手里拿著羅恩的魔杖，臉上又掛著他那特有的笑容，露出了晶亮的牙齒。
The adventure ends here, boys! he said. "I shall take a bit of this skin back up to the school, tell them I was too late to save the girl, and that you two tragically lost your minds at the sight of her mangled body — say good-bye to your memories!"
“孩子們，你們的冒險到此結(jié)束了！”他說，“我要把這張皮帶到學校去，對他們說，我來晚了，沒能救得了那個姑娘，而你們一看見她血肉模糊的尸體，就令人痛心地喪失了理智。“向你們的記憶告別吧！”
He raised Ron's Spellotaped wand high over his head and yelled, "Obliviate!"
他把羅恩那根失靈的魔杖高高舉過頭頂，大喊一聲：“一忘皆空！”
