Picture 1 A woodcutter had three sons,Jack,John and Jim.
圖一 一個樵夫有三個兒子,Jack,JOHN 和JIM.
Jim,the youngest son,was kind and generous
JIM是最小的兒子.他心地好,人又慷慨.
but his father and brothers were always unkind to him.
但他的爸爸和哥哥總是對他很刻薄
I always have to chop down the biggest tree

but I always have the smallest lunch,'Jim said to himself.

he asked Jack, the eldest son.

'No!'said Jack rudely.

He finished his lunch and went back to work.

Suddenly his axe slipped and cut his arm.
突然他的斧頭砍傷他的手臂.
Picture 3 Then the wizard asked John,the second son,
然后這巫士問第二大的兒子,JOHN,
to share his lunch.

'I don't share anything with strangers,' said John.
JOHN 說,我不可以分東西陌生人.
He ate his lunch and picked up his axe.
他吃完午餐然后拿起他的斧頭.
It slipped out of his hand and cut his leg.
為斧頭掉了手然后砍傷了他的腿.
Picture 4 Jim was tired and hungry.

He sat down for his lunch.

The wizard spoke to him.

'Please give me a little of your food,'he said.

'Of course,'said Jim.
JIM 說,當然可以.
'I dont't have much but I'll share it happily.

'Suddenly a feast appeared.
突然一桌盛大的宴席出現了.
'wow!Look at all this delicious food!Thank you,sir!'said Jim.
JIM 說'哇,看這些美食!謝謝你，先生!
Picture 5 After lunch the wizard said,'Thank you,Jim.

May your kindness be rewarded.

'Then he disppeared.Jim went back to work.
然后他就消失了.
He saw something shing inside the tree trunk he was chopping.
JIM回去工作.
It was a golden goose.
他看到他砍的那棵樹里面有東西在閃閃發亮.
'This goose is worth a lot of money.
它是一只金鵝.這只金鵝值很多錢.
I'll take it to town and sell it
我帶它到城里賣了
Then my father and brothers will be happy 'he said to himself.
那么爸爸和哥哥們會很開心,他自言自語說.
Picture 6 Jim started walking towards town.
圖六 JIM 開始往城鎮走,
On the way he come to a river
在路上他經過一條河.
'I must wash my dirty face,'he thought.
他想'我必須洗干凈我的臉,
He put the goose under a tree.
他把這只鵝放在樹下
Just then three girls came along the road.
剛好有好個女孩走過.
'What a beautiful goose!'said the first girl.
第一個女孩說'好漂亮的鵝呀!
She touched the goose.'Help!'she cried
她捉住這只鵝.'救命'她哭了.
'I'm stuck!'The other girls tried to pull her off but they could not.
我的手粘住了,其他女孩子想拉開她,可是拉不了
