逃離伊朗 Escape from Iran
Kimi A. A final illustration that progress is not possible without sacrifice occurred in my own personal experience. My grandmother is one of the strongest women I know today. In her day, she sacrificed a tremendous amount for her family to be safe, secure, and happy. In the late 1970's, the revolution in Iran placed many people in a dangerous environment, many serving under harsh governmental forces, and others fleeing the country. My grandmother and her family, being one of those lucky families who could escape before time was no longer on their side. With hardships entering the U.S. and a small amount of money with her, my grandmother made the best of what she had, and became a successful lawyer in the United States. She raised her three children to become successful people themselves, not only in their careers, but also in their happiness as well. The sacrifice she made improved the lives of her children, grandchildren, and many generations yet to come.
