朋友Amigos
Brian W. A third illustration of the notion that the aspirations of a group always exceed the goals of an individual is seen through my experiences in Mexico with the community service group known as Amigos. Last summer I was a volunteer in the program Amigos in which I traveled to Oaxaca to live, help, and rebuild the community of the less fortunate. After months of preparation learning Spanish, studying the culture, and fundraising, the date of my trip to the hot Oaxaca came. In an effort to improve the lives of the inhabitants in my community, I did all I could to help and teach the families I lived with. One day out of the rest seems to lay in my memory. After a long day's work until four o'clock in the afternoon, I was tired and exhausted from rebuilding latrines in my community. About an hour later, I was approached by one of the residents who asked if I could continue working for a group of the men who wanted to finish the latrine before the day's end. Although I knew I was worn-out, I put mind over matter and agreed to help out. By the time we finished it was about eight o'clock, however the newly found feeling of self-content was outstanding. For me, the lesson to be learned was to put the selfish individual needs aside and be a team player.
點評:這段和第2章的一篇例文很相似,雖然有點長,我還是把它放到個人經歷的例子中來了,它占了差不多一半的文章篇幅,大約220字。文章寓有哲理意味:"Although I knew I was worn-out, I put mind over matter and agreed to help out."也兼顧了道德社會:"For me,the lesson to be learned was to put the selfish individual needs aside and be a team player."如果你想用個人經歷的例子湊字數,這個方法不錯。
