Amanda: Why do Germans like to drink beer so much? They even have a two-week beer festival!

Jason: You mean the Oktoberfest in Munich. Beer is generally considered as their national drink，and the Germans have a long history of brewing beer. It's part and parcel of German culture and history.

Amanda: No wonder Oktoberfest is such an important event for Germans.

Jason: But in the beginning Oktoberfest wasn't the beer festival it is today.

Amanda: What was it then?

Jason: Its origin is the royal wedding of Prince Ludwig in 1810. Citizens of Munich were invited to join in the festivities and horse races were held. In subsequent years, other entertainments were added and beer stands appeared, which gradually developed and became the beer festival of today.
詹森：十月節的起源是1810年路德維希王子的婚禮。慕尼黑的市民被邀請參加慶祝活動，還舉行了賽馬。在后來的年份，其他娛樂活動被加入進來，出現了啤酒攤，逐漸發展成了今天的啤酒節。
