Expressing Negation
Jim: Did you read this article?
Mary: No, I didn't get to it. What's it about?
Jim: Politics.
Mary: It is never a good idea to discuss politics with someone you don't know very well.
Jim: Why's that? How are you supposed to get to know someone if you don't ask what they think?
Mary: You can ask about other kinds of things. You'll never know if the person you are talking to has the same ideas. If
they don't, they might get offended at your ideas or you might get offended at their ideas.
Jim: I disagree. That makes no sense. A good debate is always fun.
Mary: You are right, but between friends, not strangers.
Jim: Absolutely not. I like a good debate with strangers as well as with friends.
