Feifei: Eh? 你怎么說起德語了，William? 呃？

William: Ah, sorry Feifei. It's because I've just got back from a long holiday in Germany. 抱歉啊，菲菲。這是因為我剛從德國度假回來。

Feifei: Ah, did you have a nice time? 啊，你過得愉快嗎？

William: I did indeed but it was quite full-on, what with all the walking and cycling and beer drinking. I didn't have much time to just, you know, just relax and read my book. 過得還不錯，散步、騎腳踏車、喝酒什么的，但是就是行程有些緊緊。我沒能完全地放松，你知道的，就是放松和讀書。

Feifei: What was that phrase you just used, William? You said your holiday was quite... something? 威廉，你剛剛用了個什么短語？你說你的假期十分的怎么樣來著？

William: It was quite full-on. My holiday was full-on because I didn't have time to relax. 十分緊湊。我的假期緊湊是因為我沒有足夠的時間放松。

Feifei: So full-on means busy? 所以說這個短語是忙碌的意思？

William: No, no, not quite. It's actually quite a vague phrase. 不是，確切說不完全是。這個短語的意思沒那么具體。

Feifei: Vague 比較模糊的。

William: But because it's vague it's quite useful. Full-on can mean busy but it can also mean, for example, upsetting or emotional. Basically, if something is intense it can be described as full-on.

Feifei: 通常在使用這個短語的時候，我們想說明一件事情使人非常緊張，或者這件事情非常費力；尤其當這件事情本身很費體力，搞得你精疲力盡的。我覺得咱們得來聽些例句。

B: It was really great but hard work. It started at 8am and finished at 6 with only half an hour for lunch, so it was pretty full-on. 很好，但是很辛苦。培訓從早八點到晚六點，中間只有半個小時的休息時間，所以時間真的很緊。

A: Yeah and also it's quite upsetting. I wasn't quite ready for that! 是的啊，也會讓人心煩意亂的。我還沒有完全準備好看那些畫面。

Feifei: 第一個對話中，說話雙方在討論一個時間安排非常緊湊的培訓課程。第二個對話中說話雙方在討論一個非常令人不安的戰爭影片。因為短語 full-on 要表達的意思比較模糊，所以在第二個對話中，說話一方為了確認他對這個短語的理解是正確的，和另一方核實了自己的理解。

William: Yes. And there is another usage of this phrase too. It can refer to something that is proper or complete or authentic. 是的。這還有一個這個詞組的其他用法。這個可以指某些東西是合適的，或者完全的或者純正的。

Feifei: Authentic 純正的。

Feifei: Yes, I have actually. 是的，我常能用到。

William: Is it something that your friends maybe use often? 這是你的朋友常用的嗎？
