Shoot someone down 拒絕
Shoot someone down 的本意是“拒絕”，而且是那種讓人難堪，不留情面的拒絕。好比你去面試的時候：
A：Did you get the new job? 你得到新工作了嗎？
B：No, the boss shot me down in the interview. 沒有，那老板在面試的時候不留余地數落我。
又如在男女交往之中的“距人于千里之外”：
A：How about your date? 你的約會如何呀？
B：No good, she shot me down, and she said I smelled bad. 不好，她距我于千里之外，還說我有體臭。
