合并

同切分相反，有時我們需要合并語言成分，因為這樣符合中文習慣，更加順暢；一般說來，英語句子要比漢語句子長，英譯漢時切分用得較多；但是較口語化的英語句子也比較短，英譯漢時有時也得用合并。合并常見情況：

1. The inauguration took place on a bright, cold, and windy day.

就職典禮那天天氣晴朗，寒風凜冽。

2. She is intelligent, ambitious and hard-working. She is also good at solving problems.

她很有才智、雄心勃勃、工作努力，還善于解決問題。

3. His eyes were triumphantly cold. There was no light in them, no feeling, no interest.

他的目光傲慢冷酷，呆癡無光，淡漠無情。

4. The book is so lovely that I was simply taken away.

這本書真叫人愛不釋手。
