INTERPRETATION TEST (Paper 0109) Part A
Directions: In this part of the test, you will hear 2 passages in English. After you have heard each sentence or paragraph, interpret it into Chinese. Start interpreting at the signal...and stop it at the signal...You may take notes while you are listening. Remember you will hear the passages only once. Now, let us begin Part A with the first passage.
Passage 1 tells us that more and more young women choose not to have children because of great pressure from their work.
中口英譯漢部分每段開頭都有梗概介紹，一定要引起足夠重視，因為它提供了段落的線索，是理解的著眼點與圍繞點。實踐證明 ，本篇的每一段都有一定難度，很多考生做得不理想，就是沒有抓住“女性不愿要孩子”這一主線。梗概的理解應(yīng)當(dāng)說比各段難度低，其實聽懂了梗概，就能解決很大的問題。
不過，歷來考試的第一段考生的表現(xiàn)都不盡理想，因為考生的緊張情緒分散了其注意力，使其無法進(jìn)入狀態(tài)。對此，建議考生在聽directions的時候就可以開始做筆記了，以求定神與熱身。然后認(rèn)真關(guān)注梗概。
Passage 1:
With the economic globalization, more and more young people are working under great pressure. In my recent survey, I have found that childless people are one of the fastest-growing segments of the work force.
fastest-growing為常用政經(jīng)英語用語，經(jīng)常出現(xiàn)在諸如“增長最快的經(jīng)濟(jì)體”（fastest-growing economy）等表述中，很多考生聽不出主要是語音不熟悉，建議相關(guān)考生跟著標(biāo)準(zhǔn)發(fā)音把這個詞多朗讀幾遍，最好放在詞組、句子這樣真實的環(huán)境中。
segment的意思有：1）“弦（圓上兩點之間的連線）”，2）“部分”，相當(dāng)于section，3）“（橙子、檸檬等）瓣”。這里即為“部分”之意。
One woman in five over the age of forty has never given birth to a child. In the near future, the number of households without children will overtake the number of households with children.
統(tǒng)計中，經(jīng)常使用“每多少中有一個/只/…”的表述，其對應(yīng)的英語說法有one in …或one out of…。第一句中的one woman in five就是“五個中有一個”的意思。
give birth to a child即意為“生育一個孩子”，本為常用語，但許多考生對此并不熟悉。表達(dá)“生育”的還有bear一詞，但較為文雅，使用頻率不及give birth to。
overtake意為“超過”，有相同用法的還有exceed，surpass。
Those childless couples are getting more and more used to their own life. Some childless couples look forward to child-free sections in restaurants and airplanes and recreational areas.
也許是speaker的發(fā)音過快，get used to這一詞組很多考生未能理解并譯出，這直接導(dǎo)致其失去對本段的整體把握，甚至影響到其對下一段的理解與把握。
child-free sections意指“不許兒童進(jìn)入的區(qū)域”。實事求是的說，很少會有考生聽說過這樣的表達(dá)與這樣的地方。但是smoke-free area應(yīng)當(dāng)是眾所周知的；而且，這個表述出現(xiàn)在“有些人不愿要孩子”的語境中，這就應(yīng)當(dāng)容易理解和翻譯了。
They might only shop, dine or swim in ‘a(chǎn)dult-only’ spaces in order to avoid noisy infants and keep themselves quiet and peaceful. I am afraid this phenomenon will leave a negative impact on social development.
如上，adult-only這樣的字眼難免讓人感到陌生，但是Staff Only（閑人免進(jìn)/非員工莫入）應(yīng)當(dāng)是大家熟知的，再結(jié)合語境to avoid noisy infants與全篇主題，就能得出第一句的要旨了。
A leaves/exerts/has a negative/positive impact on B意為“A給B留下/造成消極的/積極的影響”。

隨著經(jīng)濟(jì)全球化，越來越多的人在巨大壓力下工作。在最近的調(diào)查中，我發(fā)現(xiàn)不生育人口是就業(yè)人口中增長最快的一部分。
40歲以上的婦女每5人中就有1人從未生育過孩子，而且她們中的大多數(shù)人以后也決不會生育孩子。要不了多久，無子女家庭的數(shù)量將會超過有孩子的家庭。

Passage 2 is about the trade relations between Europe and Asia.
由梗概得知本篇講的是歐亞兩大洲的貿(mào)易關(guān)系，要始終抓牢這一主線。Passage 2:
Europe and Asia are two major cradles of human civilization. They have both contributed to social development and human progress. History has proved the necessity to expand cooperative relations between the two continents.
cradle意為“搖籃”，necessity意為“必要性”，兩個詞難度本不大，但放在真實語境中就會造成考生的聽解障礙。再次建議考生平時多朗讀，并注意單詞在語境中的發(fā)音。
European Union is the world’s largest trade bloc. Its gross domestic product and foreign trade volume both surpass those of the United States. It enjoys the highest level of political and economic integration.
trade bloc意為“貿(mào)易聯(lián)盟”，此詞組大部分考生未能譯出。此外GDP大家很熟悉，但其全稱gross domestic product很多考生卻未能反應(yīng)出來。trade volume意為“貿(mào)易量”。integration意為“一體化”，如economic integration (經(jīng)濟(jì)一體化)。
本段很多考生失利主要因為有幾個相對陌生的術(shù)語擾亂了考生的注意力。其實，中高級口譯中的政經(jīng)詞匯重復(fù)率很高，大家完全可以選取一些術(shù)語詞表經(jīng)常背誦或朗讀，這提高聽解能力很有好處。
Trade ties between Europe and Asia have expanded rapidly in recent years. Asia has replaced the United States as the EU’s largest export market. More than 35 percent of its exports are targeted for the region.
trade ties是常用語，意為“貿(mào)易紐帶/關(guān)系”，其中的ties即指“關(guān)系，紐帶，維系”，如the ties of friendship (友誼的紐帶)，family ties (家族關(guān)系)，blood ties (血緣關(guān)系)等。
Asia has replaced the United States as the EU’s largest export market這一句很多考生譯成了“美國成為歐盟最大出口市場”，這顯然是斷章取義的結(jié)果。
be targeted for/at/on意為“面向/指向/以…為目標(biāo)”，相當(dāng)于be aimed at或be oriented to/towards，如the missiles targeted on the enemy (瞄準(zhǔn)敵人的導(dǎo)彈)，a sales campaign targeted at the youth market (面向青年人市場的大推銷活動)。
It is our common desire that Europe and Asia should resolve differences through dialogues and mutual trust, and form a new partnership in the interest of the peoples of our two continents.
本段的用語多為套話，如common desire，resolve difference through dialogues and mutual trust，form a partnership，in the interest of等，只要平時學(xué)習(xí)過此類使用頻率極高的用語，則本段不構(gòu)成困難。
