Doraemon is one of Japan's most beloved cartoon characters. It has become popular around the world, especially in Asia, since its first appearance in 1969. Now this time-traveling robotic cat has taken on a new role as an "anime ambassador" to promote the nation's culture.

Japan's foreign minister held a ceremony to appoint Doraemon as Japan's first "anime ambassador" whose task is to make friends by traveling around the world.
近日，日本外相舉行了委任哆啦A夢為日本首任“動漫大使”的儀式。哆啦A夢的使命是周游世界，廣交朋友。
He said to the person who acted as Doraemon,"I hope you will travel around the world as an anime ambassador to deepen people's understanding of Japan so they will become friends with Japan."
他對扮演哆啦A夢的人喊話:“我希望你能以動漫大使的身份環游世界，加深世界各地人們對日本的了解，讓他們成為我們的朋友。”
In his acceptance speech, Doraemon said that he was eager to promote Japanese culture,"I will do my best to tell people in foreign countries about what the Japanese think, how the Japanese live and what kind of future the Japanese hope to make."
“哆啦A夢”在發表獲獎感言時表示，他非常渴望推廣日本文化，“我會盡自己最大努力告訴其他國家的人們日本人在想什么，日本人怎么生活，日本人希望打造什么樣的未來。”
