第五課:珍妮的幸福生活
When Jane was ten years old, she became ill with a terrible disease.
當(dāng)珍妮十歲時(shí),她得了一場(chǎng)很重的病。
This disease damaged Jane's body. She couldn't move her arms or legs.
這場(chǎng)重病毀了珍妮的身體。她的胳膊和雙腿都不能動(dòng)彈了。
Jane is forty years old now. She is unable to do many things.
現(xiàn)在珍妮四十歲了。很多事情她都做不了。
She can't brush her teeth. She can't put on her shoes.
她沒法刷牙,她沒法穿鞋。
She can't run or jump. She can't make breakfast.
她不能跑,不能跳。她不能打籃球。
But she dares to try many things. She has a wheelchair.
但是,她敢于嘗試很多事情。她有一輛輪椅。
She controls her wheelchair with her mouth.She writes letters without her hands.
她用嘴來控制輪椅。她不用手來書寫。
How does she do it? She talks to a special computer.
她是怎樣做到的呢?她與一臺(tái)特殊的電腦進(jìn)行交流。
She has a special telephone that is hers alone.
她有一臺(tái)專屬的電話。
She can answer it just by saying "hello".
她可以只說“你好”來回復(fù)電話。
Jane is married and has two children.
詹尼結(jié)婚了,并且有兩個(gè)孩子。
She likes to watch her eleven-year-old son play soccer.
她喜歡看她那11歲的兒子踢足球。
From her wheelchair, Jane cheers as her son runs and kicks the ball.
當(dāng)兒子跑步、踢球時(shí),坐在輪椅上的珍妮會(huì)為他歡呼。
Her daughter likes to play the piano. Jane will never play the piano,
她的女兒喜歡彈鋼琴。珍妮不能彈鋼琴,
but she knows a lot about music. She enjoys encouraging her daughter.
但是她精通音樂。她喜歡鼓勵(lì)女兒(彈鋼琴)。
Jane speaks to people about the things she has learned as a disabled person.
珍妮和大家交流她作為殘疾人所了解的事情。
"Everyone faces problems. If you only focus on your problems,

you'll have a life full of them.

I don't need any pity. I think about all the good things in my life.

"Do you know who is really disabled?
“你知道誰才是真正的殘疾嗎?
People who don't know how lucky they are.
"是那些不知道自己有多么幸運(yùn)的人們。”
Could you open the door for me, please?

Sure!
