Germany seeking 'safe zones' to shelter refugees
德國欲為難民建“安全特區”
European Council President Donald Tusk has heaped praise on the migrant deal reached by the EU and Turkey. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Angela Merkel says she is pushing for the establishment of special security zones in Syria, near its border with Turkey, where refugees can find shelter.
歐洲理事會主席唐納德·圖斯克高度贊揚了歐盟與土耳其簽訂的移民協議。同時，德國總理安格拉·默克爾稱她正在推行敘利亞與土耳其接壤地區安全特區的建設工作，以讓難民有庇護之所。
"We are starting to see results. Since the March agreement, we have seen a sharp reduction of the illegal migration flows across the Aegean. Our return operations are working in tandem with resettlement of several nationals from Turkey to EU member states demonstrating the desire shift from illegal to legal migration,"said Tusk.
“我們已經開始看到成效了。自從三月份協議以來，我們看到了偷渡愛琴海的非法移民數量的銳減。難民遣返與歐盟成員國安置從土耳其輸送的移民這兩項工作的實施，正合力幫助實現非法移民到合法移民的理想轉變。”圖斯克說。
"I have always in my talks with the Prime Minister pleaded in favour of creating so-called safe zones, zones in which we can provide assurance and security guarantees and that has to be of the utmost immediate importance. Also, in our negotiations for a ceasefire, such areas or zones can be easily identified along the Turkey-Syria border. We have worked to see that happen and we have worked with great energy in that direction. The safer the people feel the less urgent the need for them to leave their country," Merkel said.
“我一直在與（土耳其）總理討論，我支持建立所謂的‘安全特區’，我們可以為安全特區的人們提供保障和安全。而且這也必須成為目前最首要的工作。同時，在停火談判中，我們不約而同地選中了土伊交界的地區。我們在努力落實這項工作，我們為實現這一目標付出了很大努力。只有我們給予這里的人們更多的安全感，人們想要離開他們國家的迫切心情才會減弱。”默克爾說。
