John and Bill were good friends. But they didn't see each other very often.
約翰和比爾是好朋友。可是他們不常見面。
One night, they were having dinner.
一天晚上，他們一起共進晚餐。
They chatted about the things they were doing.
他們聊了自己目前在做些什么。
They both used their phones.
他們兩人都使用手機。
John took a picture of his food. He showed Bill a video, too.
約翰為自己的餐點拍了一張照片，也播了一段影片給比爾看。
But Bill was always looking at his phone. And he kept getting messages.
可是比爾一直不停看著手機，也不斷收到信息。
"Sorry, John, but I met a nice girl last week," said Bill.
“約翰，不好意思，可是我上星期剛認識一個很不錯的女孩，”比爾說。
"We went on a date, and it was really fun. So now we text a lot."
“我們約了會，玩得很開心，所以我們現在一直不斷發信息。”
John was happy for Bill. He could understand talking to a new girlfriend.
約翰為比爾感到開心。他可以理解和新女友交談的興奮感。
But Bill's phone kept interrupting them during their talk.
可是比爾的手機在他們談話時一直打斷他們。
John didn't appreciate that.
約翰不喜歡這樣。
John was having problems with his own girlfriend.
約翰和自己的女友遇到了一些問題。
He wanted to talk to Bill about that.
他想要和比爾談談這一點。
"Bill, I want to tell you about something, but it's a long story," John said.
“比爾，我想要告訴你一件事情，可是說來話長，”約翰說。
"I'd love to listen! Nothing would make me happier," said Bill.
“我很愿意聽！沒有別的事情會比聽你說話更令我開心了，”比爾說。
Then Bill's phone beeped again!
這時，比爾的手機又響了起來！
"Oh, sorry," said Bill. "I've got to get that."
“哦，抱歉，”比爾說，“我必須接聽這通電話。”
