They started up the sloping lawn towards the castle.
他們踏上傾斜的草坪，走向城堡。
The sun was sinking fast now; the sky had turned to a clear, purple-tinged grey, but to the west there was a ruby-red glow. Ron stopped dead.
現在太陽下沉得很快，天空清朗，灰中帶紫，但是西方還有一抹殘紅。羅恩站住了，一動不動。
'Oh, please, Ron,' Hermione began.
“哦，勞駕，羅恩。”赫敏開始說。
'It's Scabbers — he won't — stay put —'
“是斑斑——它不肯——待著不動——”
Ron was bent over, trying to keep Scabbers in his pocket, but the rat was going berserk;
羅恩彎下了腰，努力讓斑斑仍舊待在衣袋里，但是那耗子變得狂暴起來，
squeaking madly, twisting and flailing, trying to sink his teeth into Ron's hand.
瘋狂地尖叫著、扭動著并且踢蹬著，想咬羅恩的手。
'Scabbers, it's me, you idiot, it's Ron,' Ron hissed.
“斑斑，是我呀，你這個傻瓜，是羅恩呀。”羅恩低聲說。
They heard a door open behind them and men's voices.
他們聽到身后有一扇門開了，有男子的說話聲傳來。
'Oh Ron, please let's move, they're going to do it!' Hermione breathed.
“哦，羅恩，勞駕讓咱們走吧，他們要下手了！”赫敏說。
'OK — Scabbers, stay put —'
“好——斑斑待著不要動——”
They walked forwards; Harry, like Hermione, was trying not to listen to the rumble of voices behind them.
他們向前走。哈利像赫敏一樣，努力不去聽身后人們說話的聲音。
Ron stopped again. 'I can't hold him — Scabbers, shut up, everyone'll hear us —'
羅恩又停下來了。“我抓不住它——斑斑，住嘴，人家要聽見我們了——”
The rat was squealing wildly, but not loudly enough to cover up the sounds drifting from Hagrid's garden.
那耗子狂亂地尖叫，但還不是響得能蓋過從海格的花園里傳過來的聲音。
There was a jumble of indistinct male voices, a silence and then, without warning, the unmistakeable swish and thud of an axe.
有幾個亂七八糟的男聲，一陣靜默。然后，在不加謄告的情況下，斧子揮動的聲音和一聲鈍響。
Hermione swayed on the spot.
赫敏在原地搖晃了一下。
'They did it!' she whispered to Harry. 'I d-don't believe it — they did it!'
