The little girl began to weep, she was so much disappointed;
這個(gè)小女孩子哭起來了，她多么地失望；
and the eyes winked again and looked upon her anxiously, as if the Great Oz felt that she could help him if she would.
奧芝的那一雙眼睛，又眨了一次，煩惱地看著她，好像那偉大的奧芝覺得如果她愿意，她是能夠幫助他的。
"I never killed anything, willingly," she sobbed.
“我永遠(yuǎn)不愿意去殺死誰，”她嗚咽著說。
"Even if I wanted to, how could I kill the Wicked Witch? If you, who are Great and Terrible, cannot kill her yourself, how do you expect me to do it?"
“即使我愿意去做，我怎么能夠殺死那惡女巫？好像你，你是偉大而強(qiáng)有力的，你自己不能夠殺死她，怎么能盼望我去做這個(gè)呢？”
"I do not know," said the Head; "but that is my answer, and until the Wicked Witch dies you will not see your uncle and aunt again.
“我可不管，”那個(gè)頭說；“這是我的回答，除非等到惡女巫死了，你才能看到你的叔叔和嬸嬸。
Remember that the Witch is Wicked-tremendously Wicked-and ought to be killed.
記住，那女巫是可惡的—很可怕的女巫—她應(yīng)當(dāng)被殺死。
Now go, and do not ask to see me again until you have done your task."

Sorrowfully Dorothy left the Throne Room and went back where the Lion and the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman were waiting to hear what Oz had said to her.
多蘿茜怏怏不樂地離開了宮殿跑回去，獅子、稻草人和鐵皮人都守候在那里，要聽聽奧芝對(duì)她說些什么。
"There is no hope for me," she said sadly, "for Oz will not send me home until I have killed the Wicked Witch of the West; and that I can never do."
她憂愁地說：“我沒有希望，因?yàn)槌俏覛⑺懒宋鞣降膼号祝瑠W芝才肯送我回家去。可是要?dú)⑺浪鞘俏矣肋h(yuǎn)做不到的事。”
Her friends were sorry, but could do nothing to help her;
她的朋友們都很憂愁，但是不能夠幫助她做些什么；
so Dorothy went to her own room and lay down on the bed and cried herself to sleep.
所以她到房間里去，躺在床上，哭著、叫著，不知不覺地睡著了。
The next morning the soldier with the green whiskers came to the Scarecrow and said:
第二天早晨，長(zhǎng)著綠胡須的兵士跑到稻草人那里來說：
"Come with me, for Oz has sent for you."
“跟我來，奧芝差人來叫你了。”
