"Why, I guess so," Dorothy answered.
多蘿茜回答說：“是啊，我想他會的，
"It would be as easy as to give the Scarecrow brains."

“True," the Tin Woodman returned.
“這倒是不錯，”鐵皮人回答說。
"So, if you will allow me to join your party, I will also go to the Emerald City and ask Oz to help me.”
“那好，假如你們愿意讓我參加你們的派對的話，我也想去那翡翠城，請求奧芝給我一顆心。”
“Come along," said the Scarecrow heartily, and Dorothy added that she would be pleased to have his company.
稻草人熱心地說：“我們愿意！”多蘿茜也點著頭，他們很高興又有了新的同伴。
So the Tin Woodman shouldered his axe and they all passed through the forest until came to the road that was paved with yellow brick.
于是鐵皮人掮著他的斧頭。他們一起穿過樹林，直走到那黃磚路上。
The Tin Woodman had asked Dorothy to put the oil-can in her basket.
鐵皮人請求多蘿茜把油罐放在她的籃子里。
"For," he said, "if I should get caught in the rain, and rust again, I would need the oil-can badly."
他說：“假如我淋著了雨，就會發銹的，只有油能解救我。”
It was a bit good luck to have their new comrade join the party, for soon after they had begun their journey again they came to a place where the trees and branches grew so thick over the road that the travelers could not pass.
他們的新同伴的確幫了他們的忙。他們走了沒多久，來到一個樹木蕪雜的地方，枝葉以及雜草長得濃密，封住了路，四周也沒有別的路可走了。
But the Tin Woodman set to work with his axe and chopped so well that soon he cleared a passage for the entire party.
鐵皮人揮動他的斧頭，熟練地砍著，立刻為他們開出一條路來。
Dorothy was thinking so earnestly as they walked along that she did not notice when the Scarecrow stumbled into a hole and rolled over to the side of the road.
他們就這樣走著，多蘿茜陷入了沉思，沒有留意到稻草人跌進洞里去，滾到了路的一邊。
Indeed, he was obliged to call to her to help him up again.
真糟糕，他不得不叫她幫忙把他扶起來。
"Why didn't you walk around the hole?" asked the Tin Woodman.
鐵皮人問：“你為什么不繞過洞穴走呢？”
"I don't know enough," replied the Scarecrow cheerfully.
“因為我沒有腦子呀，”稻草人高興地回答他。
"My head is stuffed with straw, you know, and that is why I am going to Oz to ask him for brains."
我的腦殼里塞滿了稻草，這就是我去我奧芝的原因。”
