My fellow Americans,

On Wednesday, I traveled to Las Vegas to visit with the victims of the horrific shooting, speak with their families,

and thank the brave citizens, first responders and medical personnel who saved so many lives.
同時(shí)，我要感謝市民、先遣急救員及醫(yī)護(hù)人員，他們英勇無(wú)畏，挽救了許多人的生命。
We struggle to grasp the evil that occurred on Sunday evening when a murderer shot into a crowd of more than 20,000 people.
周日晚上的演唱會(huì)聚集了一眾歌迷，許多成年男女和孩童正沉浸在音樂(lè)中時(shí)，槍擊案的惡徒朝著兩萬(wàn)多人掃射。
Men, women, and children were gathered to enjoy a concert. They never imagined it would become the worst day of their lives.

But in the wake of such shock and horror, it was a matter of seconds before the goodness of the human spirit broke through.

When the shooting began, a mother laid on top of her daughter to shield her from gunfire.
槍擊發(fā)生后，一位母親將自己的女兒掩入懷中，使其免受流彈所傷；
A husband died to protect his beloved wife.
一位丈夫用性命保護(hù)了摯愛(ài)的妻子，
Strangers rescued strangers, police officers and first responders rushed into danger.
陌生的人們相互營(yíng)救，警察和先遣急救員不顧自身安危，迅速展開(kāi)行動(dòng)。
When the worst of humanity strikes, the best of humanity responds.
縱使人性至惡肆虐，民眾以人性至善報(bào)之。
The men and women who risked their lives to save their fellow citizens give proof to the words of this Scripture: "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
《約翰福音》有言："光照自黑暗里，黑暗未曾勝過(guò)光。"男男女女不顧自身安危恰恰印證了這話所言不虛。
