Dear friends，

I would be happy if this Summit meeting left no one in any doubt about the innermost purpose of our endeavors securing the best possible protection for the safety,
這次峰會(huì)最根本的目的就是盡力保護(hù)我們這些公民代表們的安全、
liberty, dignity, rights and prosperity of the citizens whom we represent here.
自由、尊嚴(yán)、權(quán)利和成功，如果在會(huì)議結(jié)束后，所有人對(duì)這一目標(biāo)沒有任何疑問，那么這將是我很希望看到的情況。
This is not a congress of those in power, of generals or of representatives of the armaments industry.
這不是掌權(quán)者、軍事家、軍工業(yè)代表的會(huì)議，而是一個(gè)代表人們行使權(quán)力和意愿的民主會(huì)議。
It is a meeting of democratic representatives of the people who consider it their duty to act in the people's interests.
