The Thief and the Coffee
竊賊的咖啡
Part 1
第一部分
One night, I was working at the police station.
一天晚上，我在警察局工作。
I had just poured a cup of coffee when the phone rang.
我剛倒了一杯咖啡，電話就響了起來。
Someone had tried to get into a house on Maple Street.
有人想要闖入楓樹街上的一棟屋子。
I said I would be right there.
我說我馬上過去。
The night was cold, but my coffee was still hot.
夜里很冷，但我的咖啡還是熱的。
I parked my car.
我把車停好，
But then I saw something strange.
接著卻看見了一件古怪的事情，
A man beside the road was wearing black clothes.
路邊有個穿著黑色衣服的人。

第二部分
I walked over to the man.
我走到那人面前，
He was holding a map.
他拿著一份地圖。
"Good evening," I said.
"晚安，"我說，
"I'm a police officer. Are you lost?"
"我是警察， 請問你迷路了嗎？"
"Yes," he said.
"是的，"他說，
"I'm looking for a friend's house, but I don't know this neighborhood well. "
"我在找一個朋友的家，但我對這附近不熟。"
Was the man telling the truth?
那個人說的是實話嗎？
I didn't know.
我當時并不知道。
But then I saw that the man had a coffee bottle just like mine.
不過，這時我卻看見他有個和我一模一樣的咖啡壺。
Part 3
第三部分
"I keep my coffee in a bottle like that!
"我都把我的咖啡裝在和你一樣的壺里！
It keeps things warm for hours.
這樣可以保暖好幾個小時。
May I see it?"
可以借我看看嗎？"
He gave it to me and I poured some coffee in the lid.
他把咖啡壺交給我，于是我倒了些咖啡在蓋子里。
"I drank from that, officer. I wouldn't ..."
"那是我喝的，警官。 我不會…"
The man stopped when I took a drink.
那人看我喝了一口之后，就隨即住了嘴。
The coffee was ice cold.
他的咖啡冷冰冰的。
"I love coffee," I said.
"我很愛喝咖啡，"我說，
"But I like it hot in January.
"可是我在一月這個大冬天里喜歡喝熱咖啡。
What are you really doing here?"
你究竟在這里做什么？"
