Alice watched as the White King slowly began to climb the table leg.
白方國(guó)王開(kāi)始緩慢地往桌腿上爬，愛(ài)麗絲觀望著。
Then she said, 'It will take you hours to get up. Why don't I help you?'
然后她說(shuō)：“你爬上桌面得費(fèi)幾小時(shí)，為什么我不幫幫你呢？”
Gently, she picked him up and moved him slowly upwards.
她輕輕地把國(guó)王拎了起來(lái)，慢慢地往上移動(dòng)。
The King was very surprised indeed.
國(guó)王真是吃驚不小。
His eyes and his mouth got larger and larger, and rounder and rounder.
他的眼睛、嘴巴張得越來(lái)越大，越來(lái)越圓。
Alice nearly dropped him because she was laughing so much.
愛(ài)麗絲開(kāi)懷大笑，差點(diǎn)兒松了手。
When she put him down on the table, he immediately fell flat on his back and lay still.
她把國(guó)王放到了桌面上。他馬上仰面平躺，一動(dòng)不動(dòng)。
But after a while he sat up, and spoke to the Queen in a frightened whisper.
可是過(guò)了會(huì)兒，他坐了起來(lái)，受驚地輕聲對(duì)王后說(shuō)：
'I tell you, my dear, I turned cold to the very ends of my hair!
“告訴你，我親愛(ài)的，我確實(shí)怕得毛骨悚然！
I shall never, never forget that moment.'
那片刻我永世也難忘。”
'You will,' the Queen said, 'if you don't write it down.'
王后說(shuō)：“如果你不寫(xiě)下來(lái)，肯定會(huì)忘記的。”
Alice watched with interest as the King took out a very large notebook and began writing.
愛(ài)麗絲饒有興趣地看著國(guó)王掏出了一本超大號(hào)筆記本并開(kāi)始在上面寫(xiě)東西。
Then she saw a book lying on the table near her, and began to turn the pages.
她還看見(jiàn)旁邊一張桌子上放著書(shū)，就隨手翻了起來(lái)。
'It's all in some language that I don't know,' she said to herself.
她自言自語(yǔ)道：“用的語(yǔ)言我一點(diǎn)都不懂。”
It was like this.
其中有一首詩(shī)是這樣寫(xiě)的：
Puzzled, she looked at it for some time, then suddenly understood.
她看了一會(huì)兒，開(kāi)始迷惑不解，隨后茅塞頓開(kāi)。
'Of course, it's a looking-glass book!
“當(dāng)然，這是本鏡子世界的書(shū)！
If I hold it up to the glass, the words will go the right way again.'
如果我把它放在鏡子前面，詞兒就會(huì)恢復(fù)到正確的順序上來(lái)。”
This was the poem that Alice read.
下面是愛(ài)麗絲讀到的詩(shī)：
JABBERWOCKY 'Twas brillig, and the slithy roves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
怪 獸。烤晚餐肉時(shí)辰，粘柔的三不像怪獸，圍著日晷草坪轉(zhuǎn)悠鉆地洞；
All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe.
蓬頭垢面的小鳥(niǎo)脆弱、發(fā)抖，綠豬迷路，又吼叫又吹哨又打噴嚏。
'It seems very pretty,' Alice said, 'but a little hard to understand.'
愛(ài)麗絲說(shuō)：“看起來(lái)是首好詩(shī)，但有點(diǎn)兒費(fèi)解。”
(Actually, she didn't understand a word of it, but didn't like to say so. )
（其實(shí)，她一個(gè)字都不懂，但不愿意這么講。）
'It seems to fill my head with ideas - but I don't know what they are!'
“這首詩(shī)好像把很多思想塞進(jìn)了我的腦子，但那到底是些什么思想，又糊里糊涂。”
Then she suddenly jumped up, as another idea came to her.
說(shuō)完，她突然跳了一下，另一個(gè)想法來(lái)到了心頭。
'If I don't hurry, I shall have to go back through the looking-glass before I've seen the rest of the house, and the garden.
“如果我不趕緊點(diǎn)，就得穿過(guò)鏡子走回去了。這樣我就看不見(jiàn)鏡子屋的其他地方，以及那個(gè)花園。
I'll look at the garden first, I think.'
我想還是先看看花園吧。”
In a moment she was out of the room and running down the stairs.
不一會(huì)兒，她就出了房間往樓下跑。
But it wasn't really running, because she was moving gently through the air and her feet weren't touching the stairs at all.
其實(shí)那不是真跑，因?yàn)樗窃诳諝庵休p輕地飄過(guò)，雙足一點(diǎn)兒也沒(méi)有觸到樓梯。
At the bottom she managed to catch hold of the doorpost, and after that she was pleased to find herself walking again in a natural way.
到了底層她握住門(mén)柱，之后她很高興地發(fā)現(xiàn)她又能正常地走路了。
