On August 5, 13 Shanghai real estate brokerages, including Centaline and 5I5J.com, announced a ban on listing properties on SouFun. The alliance accused SouFun of breaching an agreement reached after an earlier pricing dispute in June that aimed to keep listing fees from rising too quickly. The site is fomenting a kind of unproductive competition among agencies, letting the firms buy more and more expensive packages to allow their listings to jump to the top of search results first 60, then 120, then eventually 600 times per day.
