接招：在上面的2個例句中，都用到了同一個詞語：kill the fatted calf。這是一條動詞性習慣用語。短語中的kill是“殺”的意思，fatted是“多脂肪的”“肥胖的”的意思，calf則是“小牛”的意思，kill the fatted calf意思是殺一頭肥胖的小牛，用以比喻“熱情款待”“設宴歡迎”之義。要表述“盛情款待某人”，在短語后加上介詞for，然后再接表示人的名詞或代詞，即：kill the fatted calf for sb。

下面我們回到上面的2個例句中來學習一下其中的語言要點：

要點：return from abroad：從國外回家（abroad作名詞用）

要點2：put on a party：開個聚會 （put on相當于hold，have）
