【聽力點撥】
We should pay attention to the following places.
1 Beth's surprise[ beθs] [[s?'praiz]
Beth's的發音尾音為[s], 跟 surprise的第一個音相同，因此，這個尾音就不發出來了，那么Beth的尾音是[θ], 這個讀音又和surprise 的第一個音相式，因此[θ]這個音也要保持沉默。So it should be pronounced as [bes?'praiz].
2 is on [iz] [?n]
這里is 以輔音[z]結尾，on 以元音[?]開頭，前面的輔音跟后面的元音進行連讀就是[iz?n]. There is not any stress falling on the two syllables .
3 shut about that [??t] [?'baut] [e?t]
Shut 以清輔音而且是爆破音[t]結尾, about 是以元音[?]開頭，前一個單詞的英標為輔音，后一個單詞的開頭音標是元音，則這個輔音跟這個元音進行連讀，就是[t?], 清輔音在元音前濁化為濁輔音，就讀為[d?], about是以[t]結尾，[t]在輔音[e]前不發音，因此shut about that 就讀為['??d?bau'e?t]. The stresses falls on the first and third syllable.
4 want her to find out
To 在美語中的發音是[d?], find 以輔音[d]結尾，out 以雙元音[au]開頭，根據連讀規則，將其進行連讀，就是['faindaut].
