We urge all other people to join us, for success can mean life instead of death.
我們呼吁其他各國人民加入我們的行列，因?yàn)榇伺e的成功乃意味著生存，而不是死亡。
Within us, the people of the United States, there is evident a serious and purposeful rekindling of confidence.
在我們美國人民中間，顯然正在認(rèn)真而有意識(shí)地重新振奮信心，
And I join in the hope that when my time as your President has ended, people might say this about our Nation:
而我則同樣希望，在我的總統(tǒng)任期屆滿時(shí)，人們能這樣論及我們的國家：
that we had remembered the words of Micah and renewed our search for humility, mercy, and justice;
我們牢記了彌迦的話，在對(duì)博愛、憐憫和正義的尋求中注入了新的活力；
that we had torn down the barriers that separated those of different race and region and religion,
我們已經(jīng)摧毀了將不同種族和不同宗教信仰的人們隔離開來的種種壁壘；
and where there had been mistrust, built unity, with a respect for diversity;
我們通過對(duì)多樣化的尊重，在缺乏信任的地方實(shí)現(xiàn)了團(tuán)結(jié)一致；
that we had found productive work for those able to perform it;
我們已經(jīng)為具有工作能力的人們找到了生產(chǎn)性的工作；
that we had strengthened the American family, which is the basis of our society;
我們已經(jīng)強(qiáng)化了充當(dāng)我們社會(huì)基石的美國人的家庭紐帶；
that we had ensured respect for the law, and equal treatment under the law, for the weak and the powerful, for the rich and the poor;
我們已經(jīng)確保了對(duì)法律的尊重，所有人無分強(qiáng)弱貧富都能在法律面前得到平等待遇；
and that we had enabled our people to be proud of their own Government once again.
我們已經(jīng)使我國人民能夠重新為他們自己的政府感到驕傲。
I would hope that the nations of the world might say that we had built a lasting peace,
我衷心希望世界各國都會(huì)這樣認(rèn)為：我們業(yè)已確立了一種持久的和平，
built not on weapons of war but on international policies which reflect our own most precious values.
這種和平的基礎(chǔ)不是槍炮，而是體現(xiàn)著我們最珍視的價(jià)值觀念的各項(xiàng)國際政策。
These are not just my goals, and they will not be my accomplishments,
所有這些并不僅僅是我一個(gè)人的目標(biāo)，而是我們大家共同的抱負(fù)；它們也不會(huì)是我個(gè)人的成就，
but the affirmation of our Nation's continuing moral strength and our belief in an undiminished, ever-expanding American dream.
而將是我國持續(xù)不衰的道德力量的明證，是我們從未消減和不斷擴(kuò)大的“美國夢(mèng)”的明證。 非常感謝大家。
