Explosions rock Boston Marathon
波士頓遭恐怖襲擊 連環爆炸3死百傷
The moment of impact and confusion as runners tried to make sense of the burst of flames and smoke from an explosion right near the finish line of the Boston marathon. Police say at least two people are dead and as many as 23 as two explosions rocked the area. The ensuing panic had many scrambling to find loves ones and one woman could be heard wailing I need to find my children. Emergency workers ripped away fencing as others carried injured men and women from the scene.

Statues of late leaders Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il keep watch as North Koreans celebrate the birthday of the nation's founding father. It is 101 years since founder Kim Il-Sung was born. State TV showed thousands of North Koreans paying their respects and offering flowers. There was no mention of the tensions that have been stoked in recent weeks by the young leader Kim Jong-un. His grandfather led the country from its founding in 1948 through the 1950-53 Korean War until he died in 1994.

Bombs hit cities across Iraq, killing at least 23 people

Devastation in the Iraqi city of Tuz Khurmato, where four bombs targeting police patrols killed five people and wounded 67. It was the deadliest attack in a series of bombings across Iraq on Monday that killed at least 23 people and injured more than 200 others. The carnage comes before Iraqis vote in pivotal provincial elections on Saturday. In Baghdad's Karrada district, emergency workers douse the flames of a car bomb near a court building that killed three civilians and wounded 15 others.

And in the capital city's Kamaliya district, four people were killed and 17 wounded when another car bomb exploded. To the north in the city of Kirkuk, emergency workers rush to the scene of a fourth deadly car bombing that killed two and injured ten others, in an attack targeting a convoy carrying the head of Kirkuk University, Burhan Khursheid. Kursheid escaped the attack unharmed. No one claimed responsibility for Monday's bombings. But al Qaeda's local wing is waging a campaign against Shi'ites and the government to stoke sectarian conflict.
