Now of course the mail box couldn't move from its corner.
當(dāng)然郵箱自己不能從它所在的角落移動(dòng)。
"I have to stay right where I am," it thought.
我還要待在原地，它想。
"But I'll tell the postman about the valentine when he comes at three o'clock."
但是郵遞員三點(diǎn)鐘來(lái)的時(shí)候，我會(huì)跟他說(shuō)這個(gè)情人節(jié)賀卡的。
At three o'clock there was the sound of a key in the door of the mail box.
三點(diǎn)鐘的時(shí)候，郵箱口傳來(lái)了開鎖的聲音。
There stood the postman in his gray suit with yellow buttons.
那里站著郵遞員，他穿著帶有黃色紐扣的灰色制服。
Each of the buttons had on it a picture of a post man handing out a letter.
每個(gè)紐扣上面都有一個(gè)郵遞員分發(fā)信件的圖像。
Over his shoulder the postman carried a bag, and into this bag he put the letters he found in the mail box.
郵遞員的肩膀上還背了一個(gè)包，他把在郵箱里找到的信件都放進(jìn)包里。
"Please take this valentine to the little girl who lives on the farm," said the mail box to the postman.
請(qǐng)把這個(gè)情人節(jié)賀卡寄給那個(gè)住在農(nóng)場(chǎng)上的小姑娘，郵箱跟郵差說(shuō)。
"I can't go to the farm," answered the postman," but I will take the valentine to the post office."
我去不了農(nóng)場(chǎng)，但我會(huì)把這個(gè)情人節(jié)賀卡帶回郵局，郵遞員回答說(shuō)。
Then the postman closed the mail box and walked back to the post office.
于是郵遞員關(guān)上了郵箱，回郵局去了。
"Please send this valentine to the little girl on the farm," said the postman to a clerk in the post office,
請(qǐng)把這個(gè)情人節(jié)賀卡寄給那個(gè)農(nóng)場(chǎng)上的小姑娘，郵遞員跟郵局的一個(gè)工作人員說(shuō)，
as he put the letters in his bag on to a large, flat table.
他一邊說(shuō)著，一邊把自己袋子里的信倒在了一個(gè)又大又平的桌子上。
It was then that the valentine lost its stamp.
就在這時(shí)情人節(jié)賀卡的郵票掉了。
With all the bumping, the stamp had become looser and looser and now was gone.
在不斷的顛簸中，郵票越來(lái)越松，現(xiàn)在不見了。
