Every Land Has Its Little Citizens
每一個國家都有它的小公民
Every land has its little citizens, boys and girls who are playing games, learning their lessons and helping their parents. It would be fun if you could run over some afternoon or Saturday and play with these boys and girls of far-away lands. They would have many interesting things to tell you and show you, and you could tell them just as many interesting things about your country. Many of their ways of living would seem very strange to you, but some of the things you do would seem just as strange to them.
每一個國家都有它的小公民，他們是那些正在玩游戲，學習功課以及幫助他們父母的男孩女孩們。如果你能在某個下午或周六，與遠方的這些男孩女孩們玩耍的話，那會很有趣的。他們會有很多有趣的事情跟你講，給你看，并且你也可以給他們講述一些關于你們國家的趣事。他們的很多生活方式對你而言似乎很怪異，但你做的一些事在他們看來，似乎也一樣奇怪。
Perhaps you will some day be able to travel to faraway lands; it may be that you will never be able to do so.
或許有一天你將前往那些遙遠的國家，或許你永遠也不會去。
But in the pages of books you can always take a journey. You may visit places where very few people have ever gone.
但是你可以在書本中旅行。你可以參觀一些很少有人去過的地方。
You will learn things that it has taken people many years to learn. One of the stories you are now going to read was written by a woman who lived many years in China. Of course she learned more about China than you could learn in a short visit. Another story tells of a journey made by a little girl through a part of Africa where few white people have ever been.
