Mrs.Goose's Party
鵝太太的派對(duì)
"I think I will have a party," said Mrs.Goose to herself. "Yes, I will have a party this afternoon at three o'clock."
“我想有個(gè)派對(duì)，”鵝太太自言自語(yǔ)道，“對(duì)，我要在今天下午三點(diǎn)開個(gè)派對(duì)。”
"I will ask Mrs.Squirrel, Mrs.Rabbit, and the three Ducks."
“我要叫上松鼠太太、兔太太和三只鴨子。”
So Mrs. Goose began to get ready for the party. She quickly swept and dusted her house.
于是，鵝太太開始準(zhǔn)備派對(duì)。她迅速清掃了房間。
Then she began to think about what she would have to eat.
然后開始思考吃什么。
"I believe I will have sweet cookies and some cocoa," thought Mrs.Goose. "It is a hot day, and I will make some ice cream, too."
“我會(huì)甜曲奇和一些可可，”鵝太太想，“天很熱，我也要制作一些冰淇淋。”
She flew into her tiny kitchen, and soon she was as busy as a bee, making the cookies and cocoa. Then she made the ice cream.
她飛到小廚房里，不久就像蜜蜂一樣忙碌著制作曲奇和可可。然后做了冰淇淋。
For two hours Mrs.Goose worked in her clean little kitchen. She stopped to fan herself now and then, for it was very hot in the tiny room.
鵝太太在它干凈的小廚房里忙了兩個(gè)小時(shí)。它時(shí)不時(shí)停下來給自己扇風(fēng)，因?yàn)樾》块g太熱了。
When everything was done, Mrs.Goose saw that it was only two o'clock.
當(dāng)一切準(zhǔn)備就緒之后，鵝太太看時(shí)間剛到兩點(diǎn)。
"Oh," she said, "it is just two o'clock. The house is clean, and everything is ready for the party. I shall have time to sit down and rest for almost an hour before I dress for the party."
“噢，”她說，“現(xiàn)在剛兩點(diǎn)，房子干凈了，派對(duì)的東西全準(zhǔn)備好了。我還能坐下來休息差不多一個(gè)小時(shí)。”
Mrs.Goose took her fan and sat down to rest in a nice, soft chair. She was so tired that she soon fell asleep.
鵝太太拿著扇子坐在柔軟舒適的椅子上休息。她太累了，不久就睡著了。
Mrs.Goose slept until almost three o'clock. When she woke up, she jumped from her chair.
鵝太太快三點(diǎn)時(shí)才醒。她一醒來，就從椅子上跳了起來。
"Oh, dear me!" she said. "Did I fall asleep? Now I must hurry and dress. Mrs.Squirrel, Mrs.Rabbit, and the Ducks may come at any minute.
“噢，天哪！”她說，“我睡著了？我必須馬上穿衣服。松鼠太太、兔太太和鴨子任何時(shí)候都可能來。
I'll fly upstairs and put on my new blue dress. I don't want to be late at my own party."
我要飛到樓上，穿上我的新藍(lán)裙。我不想在自己的派對(duì)上遲到。”
Mrs.Goose rubbed her feathers with her yellow bill until they were smooth. Then she took off her apron and put on her new party dress.
鵝太太用她的黃喙擦著羽毛，直到它們光滑了，然后脫下圍裙，穿上了她的新禮服。
She turned this way and that way in front of the looking-glass and thought she looked very fine.
她在穿衣鏡前轉(zhuǎn)來轉(zhuǎn)去，覺得自己看起來非常漂亮。
It was now past three o'clock.
現(xiàn)在過三點(diǎn)了。
"I'm glad they didn't come at three," said Mrs.Goose. "Now I can sit down again, but I must stay awake this time."
“我很高興它們沒有三點(diǎn)來，”鵝太太說，“現(xiàn)在我能再坐下了，但這次要醒著。”
Soon Mrs.Goose went to the window. She did not see Mrs.Rabbit, Mrs.Squirrel, or the three Ducks. She kept looking to see what time it was. And she wondered why her friends did not come.
不一會(huì)，鵝太太走到窗口處。她沒看到兔太太、松鼠太太和三只鴨子。她一直在看時(shí)間，好奇她的朋友為什么還沒來。
At last she went to the front door and looked down the road.
最后，她走到前門，往下看了看路。
"Oh, my!" she said. "How late they are! I hope they won't forget."
“天吶！”她說，“它們好遲！我希望它們別忘了。”
Just then she saw the three Ducks going down the road toward the pond.
就在這時(shí)，她看見三只鴨子沿著小路向池塘走去。
Mrs.Goose hurried after them.
鵝太太趕忙追上它們。
"Hello!" she called. "Aren't you coming?"
“嗨！”她說道，“你們不來嗎？”
The Ducks stopped and looked at her. "Coming where?" they asked.
鴨子們停下來看她。“去哪兒？”它們問。
"To my house! To my party!"
“去我家參加派對(duì)！”
"To your house? To your party?" said the three Ducks in great surprise. "We didn't know that you were going to have a party."
“去你家參加派對(duì)？”三只鴨子驚奇地說道，“我們不知道你要舉辦派對(duì)。”
"Didn't I ask you?" said Mrs.Goose.
“我沒告訴你們？”鵝太太說道。
"No," answered the Ducks, shaking their heads, "You didn't ask us."
“沒有，”鴨子搖頭回答。“你沒叫我們。”
"Oh, dear!" said Mrs.Goose. "Then I didn't ask Mrs.Rabbit or Mrs.Squirrel. I was so busy making cookies ,cocoa, and ice cream to eat that I forget to ask anyone to come to the party."
“噢，天哪！”鵝太太說。“那么我也沒叫兔太太和松鼠太太。我一直在忙著做曲奇、可可和冰淇淋，忘了叫人來參加派對(duì)。”
She began to cry. "Oh, dear! Oh, dear!" She said. "All those good things to eat, and no party! Oh, dear! Oh, dear!"
她開始哭。“哎呀，天啊！食物都準(zhǔn)備好了，但沒派對(duì)。噢，天哪，天哪！”她說。
"That's too bad," said the three Ducks. "Can't we come now?"
三只鴨子說：“那太糟糕了。我們現(xiàn)在能去嗎？”
"Yes, yes!" answered Mrs.Goose. "And please go and get the others. Don't stop to dress up. Come just as you are."
“當(dāng)然能！”鵝太太回答道，“請(qǐng)你們?nèi)ネㄖ渌恕２挥猛Ｏ聛硌b扮了。這樣來就好。”
Off ran the Ducks. In a few minutes they came back with Mrs.Squirrel and Mrs. Rabbit.
鴨子們跑了。幾分鐘后，它們與松鼠太太和兔太太一起回來了。
At four o'clock they were all eating the cookies and the cocoa and the ice cream.
四點(diǎn)，它們一起吃曲奇、可可和冰淇淋。
Mrs.Goose laughed with joy. "This is a real surprise party." she said.
鵝太太高興地笑了。她說：“這才是真正的驚喜派對(duì)。”
