一、不同點

兩者均可表示“欣賞”，區別如下：

1. appreciate 指對事物有深入的理解力或較高的修養，并能鑒賞、品評等，相當于 understand or enjoy fully。如：

Not many of us can appreciate Beijing opera. 我們中間沒有幾個人能真正欣賞京劇。

You will appreciate his novels if you read his autobiography. 如果你讀了他的自傳，你就更能欣賞他的小說了。

2. enjoy 表示“欣賞”，屬一般用語，不像 appreciate 那樣具有較高的修養，也無需“鑒賞”，只是得到感官或精神上的樂趣或滿足，側重享受，相當于 get pleasure from 的意思。如：

I enjoyed the play very much. 我很欣賞這出戲。

We didn’t enjoy his lecture. 他的講課，我們并不欣賞。

二、相同點

1. 后接動詞作賓語，兩者都必須接動名詞，不接不定式。如：

能再次收到你的來信, 我們將十分感激。

誤：We shall appreciate to hear from you again.

正：We shall appreciate hearing from you again.

大多數學生喜歡用英語提問(from www.yywords.com)。

誤：Most students enjoy to ask questions in English.

正：Most students enjoy asking questions in English.

2. 其后緊跟when / if從句時，兩者均應先接it。如：

We really appreciated it when she offered to help. 她來幫忙了，我們十分感激。(其中的it不能省略)

I’d appreciate it if you let me get on with my job. 如果你讓我繼續我的工作，我將十分感激。(其中的it不能省略)

She didn’t enjoy it when her husband drove fast. 她不喜歡她丈夫開快車。(其中的it不能省略)
