【詞義辨析】
normal, ordinary, regular, natural, typical
這些形容詞均含“規則的、正常的、正規的”之意。
normal指不超過某種限度、符合某種標準或常規。
ordinary強調一般性和普通性，含不突出的意味。
regular指按已有模式的、有規律或定期的。
natural側重某人或某物的行為符合其固有特性。
typical指個體能體現出群體的特征。
【例句用法】
It is natural that such a hardworking student should pass the exam.
這么用功的學生考試及格是很自然的事。
It is natural that he should fall in love with such a beautiful girl.
他愛上那位美麗的姑娘是很自然的事。

【語法用法】
fairly，quite，rather以及pretty的比較：
四個詞均屬于程度副詞。
Fairly一般修飾形容詞與副詞，表示很一般的程度。
“How was the film?”
“Fairly good. Not the best one I’ve seen this year.”
quite一般修飾動詞和名詞，表示的程度要比fairly深一點。
“How was the film？”
“Quite good. You ought to go.”
rather一般修飾動詞（尤其時感觀動詞）和名詞，表示的程度比quite要更強烈一點，意為“比預期的還要多一些”。
“How was the film?”
“Rather good. I was surprised.”
pretty是非正式用語，修飾形容詞與副詞，表示的程度與rather相當。
“How’s things?”
“Pretty good. You OK?”
可以有“quite right”與“all right”的表達方式?！皅uite right”指的是all right，而“all right”指的是quite right。偶有人會用“quite all right”，但表示的是all quite wrong。不過因該說法不合理，應盡量避免。
【錯句舉例與錯句分析】
錯句: He lay quitely still until the enemy moved away.
訂正: He lay quite still until the enemy moved away.
翻譯: 他很安靜地躺著，直到敵人走遠。
分析: quite本身是個副詞，可直接修飾形容詞。
