本劇主要講述住在紐約長(zhǎng)島的西佛一家的日常生活故事，是中國(guó)大陸較早引進(jìn)的國(guó)外情景喜劇，在中國(guó)從1990年一直播出至1994年。1990年代初期一經(jīng)播出就引發(fā)了收視高潮，片中邁克開(kāi)朗調(diào)皮的形象為廣大觀眾所喜愛(ài)。而劇中西佛醫(yī)生對(duì)子女采取啟發(fā)式教育的方式，也讓觀眾得到啟示。
Jason: Sorry. Mike, if you had one wish right now. One thing, what would it be?
詹森：抱歉。可我能給你個(gè)愿望，你想要什么？只能有一個(gè)愿望。
Mike: Dad, I am really not in the mood for this.
邁克：算了，爸爸，我現(xiàn)在可沒(méi)這心情。
Jason: Come on, Mike, come on, come on. Tell me one thing that would make you the happiest guy in the world. What would it be?

Mike: A solid girl dancer.
邁克：參加歌星舞會(huì)。
Jason: Alright, two wishes.
詹森：那第二個(gè)愿望呢？
Mike: Front row tickets to the Springsteen concert.
邁克：要一張音樂(lè)會(huì)的第一排的票。
Jason: Would the 7th row be alright?
詹森：如果是第七排的可以嗎？
Mike: Come on, Dad. Don't toy with my emotions. Huntington dry cleaning, three shirts, clean pressed, no starch. Thanks Dad. That was my third wish.
邁克：你就別玩弄我的感情了，亨特的干洗店，3件襯衫，洗凈，熨平，不要上漿，這是我的第三個(gè)愿望。
Jason: Ok, ok. Sorry wrong pocket. How about these?
詹森：好了，好了，是我搞錯(cuò)了。是這一張。
Mike: Kick, Dad, you know what these are? These are Springsteen tickets.

Jason: Really?
詹森：知道。
Mike: I can't believe it, how did you get them?
