一.commit：v. 犯罪，承諾，委托，托付
【詞語用法】
commit oneself to doing something，解釋為“使自己不得免于”，to 后面接動名詞。
He committed himself to doing it immedaitely.
但是在美式英語里有時也用不定式。
【例句用法】
1.One cannot commit crimes with impunity.
一個人不能犯了罪不受懲罰。
2.They tried to persuade her to commit perjury.
他們竭力說服她出庭作偽證。
3.The novelist makes his heroine commit suicide at the end of the book.
那小說作者在書的結尾讓他的女主人公自殺了。
4.I asked her what she thought, but she refused to commit herself.
我問她她是怎么想的，但她拒不表示意見。
5.The magistrates committed him for trial at the Old Bailey.
地方法官把他送往倫敦中央刑事法院受審。
二.attack：n. 攻擊，抨擊 v. 攻擊，抨擊，發動攻擊，（疾病）侵襲
【詞義辨析】
aggression, invasion, assault, attack, offensive,
aggression: 詞義寬泛，既可指武裝入侵別國領土，又可指文化、經濟等方面的侵略。側重敵意行動和征服的企圖。
invasion: 多指具體的侵入或侵犯別國領土，也可用于指抽象事件。
assault: 主要指突然而猛烈的進攻。
attack: 普通用詞，含義廣，指事先不發警告，主動地向對方發起武力進攻或對言論等進行抨擊。
offensive: 多指進攻的態勢，常指大規模的協同軍事行動。
attack, assail, assault, charge, beset,
attack: 常用詞, 指"攻擊敵人"或"用言論攻擊他人"。
Germany began to attack the Soviet Union in 1941.
德國在1941年開始進攻蘇聯。
assail: 指"猛烈連續地攻擊"。
The enemy plane assailed our defence position.
敵機不斷猛烈地攻擊我們的陣地。
assault: 語氣比 assail強, 指"突然猛烈地進攻", 暗示"武力的直接接觸" (如肉搏等), 也有"暴力"的意思。
The enemy assaulted us at dawn.
敵人在黎明時向我進攻。
charge: 指"沖擊"或"騎兵的突然攻擊"。
The cavalry charged to the front.
騎兵猛烈向前線沖擊。
beset: 指"圍攻", 即從各個方向攻擊。
In the swamp we were beset by mosquitoes.
在沼澤地里, 我們受到蚊子的圍攻。
【詞語用法】
常用的搭配有attack on someone或是attack against someone，指“攻擊某人”。
