上期我們說到Garrett在女友生日這天因為自己的糟糕表現被甩。不過，不上心，也就沒有多傷心了。當天晚上他就遇到了Langford，一個來自舊金山，年齡不小，但仍然沒有大學畢業，目前在紐約一家報社實習的女孩兒。兩個有共同喜好，性情相投的人一拍即合。但雙方都知道一個月后Langford會離開紐約。當這一天終于到來的時候，去機場的路上，兩個人都裝作若無其事，寒暄道別。但內心里的真實感受最終突破了對雙城之間距離的顧忌，磕磕絆絆的表達了出來。

Langford如此大齡還沒有大學畢業是因為曾經輟學追隨男友。因而自己的生活被打亂。不過，Garrett的出現又一次讓她無所適從。雖然兩個人分別住在美國的最東邊和最西邊，但熱戀的溫度足以讓他們低估距離的力量。

1. That sucked. 口語中我們常常聽到的一個表達法。俚語中，suck表示“爛；令人討厭”。比如：This job sucks. I'm quitting. 這工作爛透了。我不想干了。

2. timeline is off. Timeline, 時間表。Off作介詞用的時候有“偏離；失去”。比如：You’re going off the subject. 你們離題了。Timeline is off 就指偏離了原本的時間規劃；時間規劃都不起作用了。

3. get everything back on track. Track，軌道。短語意思是“讓一切回到軌道上”。相當于everything is on the right track. 步入正軌。

4. fuck that all up. fuck up是美語里的一種粗話，意思是“一團糟；攪亂”。
