1. the very spirit, very作副詞的用法大家都很熟悉了。其實它還可以用作形容詞，表示“正是；恰好的；真正的”。比如：You are the very man I’m looking for. 你正是我要找的人。

2. the only class, 口語當中class有“高質量的；出色風度的”這樣的意思。比如，a girl with real class就表示“有風度的姑娘”。這里指代Charlie是現場最有品的人。

3. I’ve been around. Have been around是個一個固定用法。相當于一個形容詞，表示“閱歷多的；世故深的”。比如：Most writers have been around a lot. 很多作家閱歷甚廣。本段內容里，Colonel中校對校長的不敬反擊，說自己“也是見過大世面的人”。

4. with his tail between his legs, 這個表達法和漢語中我們常說的“夾著尾巴逃跑了”意思差不多。
