可可英語的網友朋友們大家好。今天我們還是繼續電影《居家男人》。其實，在電影的一開頭就是下面我們即將聽到的機場話別的情景。時間還是1987年。那時的Jack還不是華爾街叱咤風云的金融專家，而是剛剛獲得一個可以到倫敦巴克利銀行實習的年輕人。他和女友Kate也深深相愛，但為了未來的發展，在女友提出讓他留下，兩個人成家共同努力的時候，他堅定的選擇了離開。這也為后來Jack經歷的一切打下了伏筆。一起來聽。
Kate: Wait. I have a really bad feeling about this.
Jack: About the plane? You think it's gonna crash? Don't say that.
Kate: Look, I know that we've talked about this a thousand times and we agreed that going to London was the right thing to do. But in my heart...this feels wrong. Don't go, Jack.
Jack: You mean don't go at all? Well, what...what about my internship?
Kate: Believe me, I know...I know what an incredible opportunity this is for you.
Jack: For us, Kate.
Kate: Right, for us. But I'm afraid that if you get on that plane...
Jack: Look. We're at the airport. Nobody ever thinks clearly at the airport. So we should just trust the decision we already made. You've been accepted to one of the best law schools in the country. I've got this internship at Barclay's Bank. We have a great plan, honey.
Kate: You wanna do something great, Jack? Let's flush the plan. Let's start our lives right now, today. I mean, I have no idea what this life is gonna look like but I know that it has the both of us in it. And I choose us. The plan doesn't make us great, Jack. What we have together, that's what makes us great.
Jack: I love you, Kate.
Kate: I love you too. I do.
Jack: And one year in London is not gonna change that. A hundred years couldn't change that.
Intern, 實習生；internship, 實習生職位；實習期。
Flush, 有“沖洗”的意思，比如，The lavatory won’t flush. 抽水馬桶不好使了，不能沖水了。這里flush the plan指廢棄原有的計劃；改變原計劃。
和女友分手后的Jack在金融界如魚得水。但生活上，他一直不把感情看的很重。也因此不覺得別人的家庭生活是重要的。所以，盡管是圣誕夜，也希望員工能以工作為重。
在遇到黑人流浪漢的第二天早上，他發現自己熟悉的生活徹底消失了。自己和Kate已經結婚多年，有了兩個孩子。
從剛開始的抓狂，到慢慢體會到有家人陪伴，努力有了方向和意義，Jack慢慢開始愛上了這樣的生活。然而，不管是好夢還是噩夢，都有醒來的時候。Jack 幾乎是依依不舍地回到了從前的生活，重新在自己熟悉的豪華大床上孤獨地醒來。
