Victoria：Victoria Aragon. I'm sorry about the bus. Um...I feel terrible. All the problems I've caused you. You should just keep going. Who knows what will happen next?
Paul：There's always the possibility of a forest fire, I suppose. Why aren't you on the bus?
Victoria：My stop.
Paul：You're waiting for a ride.

Paul：I don’t know your father. But I don't think just because some free spirit broke up with you...

Paul：Oh. You're very upset. I can understand that. Definitely understand that. But, Victoria, look at the positive side. It's a new life coming into the world. That's a miracle in itself, right?
Victoria："I will kill anyone who dishonors my family." How many times has he said that? A hundred times, a million times?
Paul：I'm sure it's just a figure of speech.
Victoria：My father means what he says. Always. He's... He's very old-fashioned. If I come home this way without a husband, he'll kill me. I know he will.
Paul：How about if you do show up with a husband?

這段話并非兩個(gè)人初次見面。Victoria懷有身孕，在火車上因?yàn)閻盒?，吐了Paul一身。兩個(gè)人還錯(cuò)拿了對(duì)方的車票，導(dǎo)致Paul無(wú)法直接坐火車到目的地。在長(zhǎng)途汽車上兩個(gè)人再次相遇，Paul又因?yàn)榻逃?xùn)了兩個(gè)調(diào)戲Victoria的人而被司機(jī)連同兩個(gè)壞人一起趕下了車。
Victoria出生于傳統(tǒng)的墨西哥望族之家，擁有一個(gè)名叫“云中仙境”的葡萄園。父親非常嚴(yán)厲，因而未婚先孕，并且被拋棄的結(jié)果是無(wú)法被接受的。因此，Victoria下車之后坐在行李箱上不肯回家。Paul猜測(cè)她是在等人，Victoria回答，不是，是在等個(gè)“奇跡”吧。希望自己不會(huì)被父親給宰掉的奇跡。
面對(duì)Victoria的糾結(jié)，Paul說(shuō)這個(gè)none of my business。None of one’s business, 不關(guān)某人的事兒。但是，你愿意的話可以和我談?wù)劇ictoria無(wú)法解釋，于是拿出了分手信。信的內(nèi)容為：'I was not meant for the conventions of this world, not meant to be tied down. I'm a free spirit." Be meant for有“為……而存在”的意思。比如這個(gè)例子：It’s Dragon Year. I am also a dragon, so this song and I just seemed to be meant for each other. 這是龍年，我又屬龍。這首歌和我注定是有緣的。Convention, 習(xí)俗，常規(guī)，tie down, 牽制，限制。信的內(nèi)容就是，這個(gè)世界的習(xí)俗不是為我設(shè)置的，我也不會(huì)被它牽絆，限制。我是一個(gè)自由的靈魂。這就是這個(gè)自由靈魂break up with Victoria的原因了。Break up with sb. 和某人分手。
這樣的結(jié)局對(duì)Victoria的父親來(lái)說(shuō)無(wú)法接受，特別是他又是一個(gè)old fashioned的人。Old-fashioned，舊式的；老式的。這樣的事兒不管新式還是老式的父親都不好接受。不過(guò)，像Victoria的爸爸對(duì)家族榮耀看的異常重的人接受這樣的事實(shí)一定是更困難。所以，Victoria總是不停的說(shuō)，He’ll kill me. 并且He means what he says 見“補(bǔ)充”. 他說(shuō)的和他想的是一樣的。
在冒充女婿的時(shí)間里，Aragon先生著實(shí)讓Paul尷尬，難受了幾回。但就在家人慢慢接受了Paul，Paul和Victoria之間也互生好感之后，兩人卻不得不面對(duì)Paul有妻子的事實(shí)。于是Victoria主動(dòng)澄清了事實(shí)真相，這讓她的父親陷入深深的痛苦之中。而返回家的Paul卻發(fā)現(xiàn)妻子和其他人在一起?；謴?fù)單身的Paul迫不及待趕往Victoria的家，正巧碰上她的父親獨(dú)自喝悶酒。激動(dòng)的Aragon先生將油燈扔進(jìn)了葡萄園，導(dǎo)致整個(gè)葡萄園被燒毀。就在所有人都絕望的時(shí)候，Paul想起了Aragon家族帶來(lái)的葡萄根，這個(gè)葡萄根也象征著整個(gè)家族的生命。電影在Aragon先生將切下的一小段葡萄根放在Paul手中，說(shuō)“This is your root., the root of your family這就是你生命的根，你家的根”中圓滿落幕。一家人相互的愛和支持讓他們充滿了重建家園的勇氣。
圣誕在即，就讓我們暫時(shí)停下邂逅，通過(guò)幾部經(jīng)典的圣誕電影，一起去尋找“圣誕精神”，尋找失落已久的童真和簡(jiǎn)單的“相信”。我們下期再見。
