1. What's up?
"What's up?"和"How are you doing?""How's it going?"以及"What's new?"……,都是美國人常說的寒暄語,一般認(rèn)為是從黑人語言中而來,是很常用的打招呼方式。
"What's up?"就是問對方近來如何,有點像中文里的“最近怎樣”,通常沒什么事就會回答"Not much"或者"Nothing"。
不過,還有一種情況也很常見,就是對方也回答了一句"What's up?"。在這種情況下,"What's up"幾乎相當(dāng)于"Hello"。
"What's up?"也常被用來問人家有什么事,比如別人登門拜訪,你就可以用,意為“有何貴干哪”。
情景對話:
A: What's up, boy? 你在忙什么呢,小家伙?
B: I'm doing my homework, dad.在做作業(yè)呢,爸爸。
2.Here we are.
“Here we are”在口語中用得很多,其確切含義應(yīng)視上下文而定,但萬變不離其中之兩種基本含義:
(1)我們(終于)到了;
Here we are at the station.(其后可跟地點狀語)
(2)我們所需要的(或所要找的)東西就在這里;
當(dāng)談?wù)撝械臇|西是單數(shù)時可用“Here it is.”,復(fù)數(shù)時可用“Here they are.”來代替

情景對話:
A: Are we arrived? 我們到了嗎?
B: Well, here we are. 嗯,我們到了。
3. I figure...“我想,我覺得,我揣測,我斷定”;
I figure that he was honest .
我想他是誠實的。
I figure he will come here tomorrow.
我算計他明天會來。
而figure on則是“估計到,打算,指望”的意思;
You can figure on him to be on time.
你可以指望他準(zhǔn)時。
You can figure on him to support you.
你可以指望他來支持你。
情景對話:
A: How do you think our new preoject? 你覺得我們的新項目怎樣?
B: I figure it'll work well. 我想會運作順利的。
