1. muscle tone: 肌肉張力。

此外，in tune還可以表示唱歌不走調， 例如：You're not singing in tune.（你唱走調了。）

11.screw: 使煩惱得不能正常生活；使神經不正常。

此外，我們還常用screw up來表示“搞糟；攪亂；弄壞”。例如：Don't ask them to organize the trip, they'll only screw everything up.（別讓她們組織此行，他們準得把一切都搞糟了。）

12.jar-head: 鍋蓋頭，美國海軍陸戰隊的發型。在這里指Jake原來是一個海軍陸戰隊員。

13.drop out: 退學，退伍。這里是說Jake是個退伍士兵。

14.trigger-happy: 好戰的。

例如：Thank goodness the new premier is not as trigger-happy as his predecessor.（謝天謝地，新總理不像他的前任那樣好戰。）

15.moron: 笨蛋，蠢貨。例如：He's an absolute moron!（他純粹是個傻子！）

16.puppet show: 木偶劇。

例如：The children staged an entertaining puppet show.（孩子們表演了一場十分有趣的木偶戲。）
