165.Old Tom's Tavern
Once in a while people came by the tavern to ask about Old Tom!
One by one they asked how he died, if he had any children, etc.
And every time Gavin answered each question one after another.
He's not opposed to it-he never tired of talking about Old Tom!
Old Tom had been a friend to everyone-he was one in a thousand!
And he had opened everyone's eyes to how to truly enjoy life!
It was amazing how many people he had affected.
If you opened a savings account and put a penny in for each person he helped, you'd have enough money to buy a yacht!
But no one opened an account; they just passed on Old Tom's wisdom.
And the tavern was where they all came to talk about him!
Old Tom had married once or twice, but no one knew if he had ever had children!
Once in a blue moon a person would say he was one of his long lost children, but then he would confess that he just wished he was.
And they talked about his death. It was an open and shut case!
He had fallen off a building while helping a person fix his roof.
He had been warned to go one step at a time. But he had slipped and fallen!
As the townsfolk consoled one another at his funeral, they became more and more open to sharing the advice he had given!
Then someone wrote a memoir about him. It was a bestseller.
In it people could once more hear Old Tom's voice as people recalled what he had said to them!
After that Gavin changed the tavern's name to Old Tom's Tavern. People still come by to this day!
