168.出差在外
Whenever the boss was out of the office, everyone took it easy!
只要老板不在辦公室，大伙兒就放松了！
They stopped trying to outdo themselves, fighting against each other,
他們不再拼命超水平發揮，相互之間不再明爭暗斗，
and going over and above the demands of duty!
不再多做工作以外的事！
That's why the boss was always so reluctant to leave.
就因為這樣，老板一般都不愿意離開。
One time, however, when he had to go out of town on business for several weeks, he knew that it was out of the question for him to allow his whole office to do nothing while he was gone!
然而有那么一次，他得一連好幾個星期出差在外，他知道他不可能讓整個辦公室趁他不在時無所事事。
And so he went out of his way to fight the problem; he hired a replacement, Boss number 2!
于是一反常態要解決這個問題，結果他找了個替身，也就是老板二號！
Boss number 2 was outrageously expensive! But the boss thought it was worth it!
請這個老板二號可是貴得驚人！但老板覺得值！
The staff thought it was ridiculous!
員工們認為這很荒唐！
But when the boss was gone, Boss number 2 changed their outlook on everything-he was even more demanding than the normal boss!
可是老板不在的時候，老板二號改變了他們對事物的看法——他比原來的老板甚至要求更高！
But he was out of tune with how to run the business
但他協調不了生意上的事情，
and the normal boss found that he wasn't out of the woods with this replacement boss either!
原來的老板發現找這個替身還是擺脫不了困境！
When he returned he found that several clients had left, project costs exceeded and key staff fired!
回來時他發現走了好幾個客戶，項目支出超額、重要員工被炒魷魚！
The company was in a mess out-and-out!
公司完全亂成一鍋粥！
Everyone reported that Boss number 2 was out of touch with everything, and out of this world in his expectations!
大家都說老板二號不接觸任何事情，可是卻想得很好！
The whole office would have to start all over again in some areas of their business!
整個辦公室有些業務得重新來！
The boss decided then and there that he was over and done with going out of town!
于是老板當場決定他不再會有出差的時候！
The staff moaned!
員工們叫苦不迭！
